If there is time, we’ll stop in Ravello, a peaceful and charming medieval town, where we highly recommend a visit to the beautiful gardens of Villa Rufolo to enjoy a breathtaking view from its world-famous garden. During the beautiful ride along the coast, you will also admire small fishing villages (Fiordo di Furore and Marina di Praia).

As you circumnavigate the Isle of Capri, he will expertly navigate the boat for close ups of the natural grottos (most notably the Blue, Green and White) and through the Faraglioni. Keep your camera ready as with every “punta” you won’t want to miss the natural or man-made wonder you’ll find there. At some point, your captain will anchor your yacht for a carefree dip in the sea or provide snorkeling equipment for you to search for “Nemo.” And, before returning to your hotel, he will let you go ashore to explore for approximately 2 hours on your own. At your request, the captain will stop at the Blue Grotto where you can hire a small row boat to take you into the famous cave.

Herculaneum:

Herculaneum is ancient residential town of Greek origins, a smaller town with a wealthier population at the time of the eruption. Embark on a walking tour through the villas with portico gardens, fountains and baths, and admire the wall frescoes and floor mosaics. Excavations of Herculaneum began by accident in 1709 when some workers, digging a well, discovered a wall which was later found to be one of the stages of the ancient theatre. Later, there were many human skeletons uncovered at the ancient shoreline, suggesting that numerous inhabitants attempted to escape but perished when mountains collapsed and volcanic gases were released.

He/she will share with you the interesting facts about the other major catastrophe endured by the Vesuvians 17 years before and the events leading up to August 24, 79 A.D. Entering though Porto Marina, the largest of the seven gates, you will visit the Forum, surrounded by churches, government buildings, and businesses, it was the hub of the city. You will see the temples and the statues of the Roman Gods; the homes of the wealthy with mosaic floors and preserved frescos; the austere homes of the poor; the public baths; the markets; the wood-burning ovens of the bakery and vats where hot food was prepared and served in a kind of “fast-food” manner; the brothel with erotic art still visible; the necropolis and the various sized theatres.
